Parental Support
Parents, we have strived to develop a more kid- and budget-friendly dress code this year. If the policy is abused, it will be revised and stricter guidelines will be put into place. Please help us by ensuring that your child makes good choices that honor the spirit of the policy.
Special Provisions
Students are allowed to wear approved head coverings as part of a student’s bona fide religious practices or beliefs.
- Tops and bottoms must meet and not expose midriff.
- See-through clothing and sleeveless tops are not permitted on campus.
- Skirts, shorts, dresses, and skorts must reach fingertips when arms are extended down the side
- All pants must be worn at the waist. Sagging or low riding is prohibited.
- If leggings are worn, they must be under shorts, skirt, dresses, or skorts that meet dress code requirements for length.
- Jeans or slacks with rips or tears must not reveal skin.
- Pajamas are not allowed.
- Hoodies may be worn, but hoods are not allowed to be worn inside the building.
- Hats, bonnets, “du-rags”, stocking caps, bandanas and other head coverings may not be worn in the building. (See special provisions to the left).
- Blankets may not be worn/used as a jacket.
- Appropriate footwear must be worn at all times. House shoes, slides, Heelys, and flip flops are prohibited. Sandals must have a heel strap. Crocs must be in “sports mode.”
- Writing or images of substances that are illegal for teens (i.e. drugs, alcohol, or tobacco products) or are otherwise offensive, lewd, indecent, vulgar, obscene, profane, gang-related, disruptive, discriminatory, or that include racial or ethnic slurs are not permitted.
Students who are out of dress code will not be allowed to remain in class. Students will be given an opportunity to make an immediate correction (if replacement items are available) or call a parent to bring a change of clothes. Students who are unwilling or unable to make a correction will remain in the Restorative Learning Lab. Repeated violations will result in RLL or OSS.
